As part of the Fundação Serralves' itinerant exhibitions, FLR - FUNDAÇÃO LEAL RIOS is pleased to invite you to visit the solo exhibition "Helena Almeida: Inhabiting the Work", curated by Joana Valsassina, in which a video screening from the FLR collection is exhibited. "Helena Almeida (Lisbon, 1934-2018), daughter of the sculptor Leopoldo de Almeida and a key figure in the Portuguese art scene, produced a singular work during the 1960s characterized by a profound interest in the body, its performative encounter with the world, questioning traditional disciplines of painting, drawing, sculpture, or photography as devices to present and represent reality. This exhibition brings together a group of works by Helena Almeida from the Serralves Collection and from important collections on deposit at the Foundation, revealing key aspects and defining moments in her unique artistic career."
